A salon team discussing how to introduce a shared colour workflow.

Introducing Dosiq

Dosiq in the salon: how to introduce the system so your team actually uses it?

A new system rarely causes excitement in a salon. Especially when the diary is full, someone is always mixing colour and everyone already has their own way of working.

“I do not have time”, “There will be queues for the scale”, “Will someone be checking how much colour I use?” We know these questions well from Dosiq onboarding. Discuss them with the team before mixes start going unrecorded.

“I do not have time for extra tapping”

The app is simple and quick to use. Prepare products as usual, scan them, weigh them and save the mix. Recipes are kept in one place, without having to find them on a computer, copy them onto paper or carry them between reception and the mixing area.

The technical record also reflects the products actually used, avoiding errors caused by copying information or confusing shades.

This changes how work is organised rather than adding more duties.

“There will be queues for the scale and tablet”

The number of Bluetooth scales connected to the app should match the number used before introducing Dosiq. Once weighing becomes a habit, it should take no longer than before, with the team preparing mixes at the same stations.

“Will someone be checking how much colour I use?”

Being monitored is one of the team’s biggest concerns. Talk about it openly before starting with Dosiq.

The app shows actual product usage, but consider it from a different angle. The issue is not that different people use different amounts of colour. It is how much product ends up down the sink.

Instead of hiding leftovers and creating tension, record them in the app. The saved information helps you choose an appropriate quantity for the next similar appointment and gradually reduce waste.

The goal is to reduce waste and make better use of products, rather than accounting for every drop of colour.

“Does that mean I should use less colour?”

Apply as much product as the colouring service requires. That does not change.

What changes is that Dosiq helps you examine what remains in the bowl. You prepare 150 g, use 120 g and discard the remaining 30 g. If this happens regularly, consider preparing less for the next similar appointment.

After colouring, check whether unused mix remains in the bowl. If it does, record the leftover amount in Dosiq. This makes it easier to decide how much to prepare for the next similar appointment. If nothing remains, there is no surplus to report.

If the mix runs out, Dosiq lets you prepare a top-up. The app recalculates the saved recipe’s proportions for the quantity you need.

How should products be weighed for an accurate record?

The rule is simple: weigh and save every mix in Dosiq before applying it to the hair.

Select the appointment, add products using the scale connected to the app and save the mix. You can then begin colouring.

Remember that the scale switches off after two minutes, even during weighing. If preparing the colour takes longer, tare it between adding products.

Do not enter quantities from memory. If 43 g goes into the bowl but you record 40 g, the usage data is wrong. Across 20 such services, the difference is 60 g: a whole standard colour tube.

Dosiq is in the salon, but part of the team avoids it

Find out who is skipping the app and why. Instead of repeating the requirement, talk to those people and identify what gets in their way.

At the start, the manager can work alongside them while preparing mixes and help with weighing and saving recipes. Support during everyday work helps build a habit and makes Dosiq a natural part of colouring.

What should be checked after introducing Dosiq?

On day one, check that equipment works and everyone can save a mix independently.

After 7 days, the target is to have at least 80% of mixes recorded. If the figure is lower, identify omissions and respond promptly. Resistance becomes harder to address the longer it continues.

Review the records again after 14 and 30 days. Check that the team regularly weighs products, reuses previous recipes and records leftovers in the bowl. These records help choose quantities for the next similar appointment. Practise again at the mixing station if anything remains difficult.
